NEC DSX

How do I set the time/date on my DSX telephone?

To change the time or date on your NEC DSX display telephone you will need to first locate extension 100 (check the display or press the 6 on your keypad).

Leave the handset down and press # 8 3

Enter the time in 24-hour format

Press the HOLD button

Enter 2 digits for the month, 2 digits for the day and 4 digits for the year

Press HOLD then Speaker to exit

How do I transfer a call to another extension or voicemail on my DSX telephone?

Transfer permits an extension user to send (i.e., extend) an active call to any other extension in the system. With Transfer, any extension user can quickly send a call to the desired co-worker. A call a user transfers automatically recalls if not picked up at the destination extension.

An extension user can Transfer both outside calls and Intercom calls.

You can transfer calls in two ways.

Screened Transfer – The transferring user announces the call to the destination before hanging up.

Unscreened Transfer – The transferring party extends the call without an announcement.

To Transfer a call:

  1. Do not hang up.
  2. Press the TRANSFER button.
  3. Dial your co-workers extension or press the button programmed for that user if available.
  4. Announce the call to your co-worker (screened transfer) or simply hang up to send the call through unscreened.

Tips: You can press the flashing line key to return to the call if your co-worker doesn’t want it.  You can press the V-Mail button to send the call to your co-workers voice mail.

How do I program the speed dial buttons on my DSX telephone?

The personal speed dial buttons on the NEC DSX 22B Display Telephone and the DSX 34B Display Telephone are the ten buttons located directly below the display. The first of these buttons corresponds to speed dial bin 701 and the last speed dial 710. Once a speed dial number has been stored in a bin you can dial that number by simply pressing the corresponding button.

Programming

  1. Press the softkey under Menu
  2. Press the softkey under Spd
  3. Press one of the ten speed dial buttons that you want to program
  4. Press the HOLD button
  5. Dial 90 at the Line/Group/Intercom: Prompt (this will automatically select a line by inserting a 9)
  6. Press the HOLD button
  7. Enter the telephone number to store
  8. Press the HOLD button TWICE
  9. Enter the name for the speed dial number (this is used for directory dialing)
  10. Press the HOLD button
  11. Press the next speed dial button or Speaker to exit

How do I make a conference call on my DSX telephone?

The NEC DSX-40, DSX 80 and DSX 160 phone system can do a conference call with up to 8 members. This can be a combination of outside lines (up to the number of telephone lines you have from the phone company) and internal extensions. With the NEC phone system you can have a maximum of 8 simultaneous conferences.

To make a conference call on a NEC DSX-40, DSX-80 or DSX-160 telephone system:

While you are talking on an outside line or an intercom call:

  1. Press the CONF button (bottom right of phone).
  2. Press a line button, hotline button, dial an extension number or dial 9 followed by the telephone number you wish to add.
  3. Press the CONF button to start the conference.
  4. To add additional members repeat steps 1 – 3.

How do I change the name on my DSX telephone?

To change the name that is displayed on your NEC DSX 22B display tel telephone:

  1. Press the soft key under Menu
  2. Press the soft key under More until you see Name on your display
  3. Press the soft key under Name
  4. Press the Clear button to erase the current name and use the keypad to enter the new name
  5. Press the Speaker button to exit

If you are using the auto-attendant dial by name directory the name you program here will determine your listing in the directory. If you do not have Name as one of your soft key options then your station does not have the class of service to change names and it must be programmed from extension 100.

How do I connect a headset to my DSX telephone?

These instructions will work for the NEC DSX 34B Display Telephone and the NEC DSX 34B Super Display phone as well as the NEC DSX 22B Display phone.

The NEC 22B Display Telelphone has a built in handset plug in the bottom of the phone eliminating the need for a headset amplifier.

Turn the 22B Display Telephone over and locate the jack on the bottom of the phone labeled headset.  Simply plug the headset cord directly into the headset jack located on the bottom of the telephone.  The cords for your handset and headset should be run through the two channels to keep the cords from tangling.

How do I change the name on the display of my phone?

NOTE: If you have E-PRO phones, FEATURE is FNCTRANSFER is TRFCONF is CNF, and ANSWER is ANS

Do NOT lift the handset or press the speaker key

1. Press FEATURE
2. Press # 0 * 8974 — The words “PROGRAM MODE” should now be in the display
3. Press the fourth line key — the fourth button at the top of the telephone, from the left, NOT the number 4 on the dialpad
4. Press 18 on the dialpad

You are now in the programming section for changing station names. The display should show the following information:

Port No. /  Data No. Setting data (up to six characters)
01      /      18 :      < NAME >
TIME & DATE

5. Press CONF until you see the name you want to change
6. Press HOLD if you want to clear the old name before entering the new one. Otherwise, use the dialpad to enter the correct name
NOTE: If no letters come up in display using the dial pad, you must use the character entry codes found in the MULTILINE TELEPHONE USER GUIDE. (Pro II & Elite with software versions lower than 4000.)  —– The * (Asterisk) button will move cursor to the left and the # (Pound) button will move cursor to the right.
7. 
Press TRANSFER to save the name when you have entered it correctly.

To change more names, the cursor will be blinking under the data no. (which will be 19) press 1 8 on the dial pad and you are back where you started. Follow procedures above.  Press TRANSFER after each name that you change.  Press SPEAKER to exit program mode.

How do I set the date/time on my system?

This must always be done from the programming phone (Usually Ext. 100) with the receiver on the hook.  This phone should be a display phone so you can see what you are doing.

1. Press FNC (or FEATURE on the Elite Series)
2. Dial 9#
3. Enter hour and minutes via dialpad
4. Press RECALL to change AM/PM setting (press FNC here if the time is all you need to change, otherwise, continue)
5. Press HOLD to change the calendar setting
6. Press RECALL to set the day of week
7. Press to move the cursor to the day of the month
8. Enter day of month via dialpad
9. Press RECALL to select month
10. Press to move the cursor to the year field
11. Enter the last two digits of the year via dialpad
12. Press FNC

NOTE: You may press * to move cursor to the left

How do I set the date/time on my system?

How do I forward calls on my OfficeServ telephone?

The OfficeServ series allow several types of call forwarding:

0 – Forward CANCEL
1 – Forward ALL CALLS
2 – Forward BUSY
3 – Forward NO ANSWER
4 – Forward BUSY/NO ANSWER
5 – Forward DND

To set call forwarding on your OfficeServ telephone:

  1. Press TRANSFER followed by 102
  2. Dial 0 – * to select forward type or press UP or DOWN to select forward type and press the RIGHT soft key to move cursor
  3. Dial DESTINATION number or press UP or DOWN to select destination and press RIGHT soft key to move cursor
  4. Dial 1 for YES or 0 for NO and press RIGHT soft key to return to step 2
  5. Press the TRANSFER key to store and exit

 

 

How do I change the name displayed on my OfficeServ telephone?

Names are written using the keypad on your OfficeServ telephone. Each keypress selects a character. Pressing the dial pad key moves the cursor to the next position. For example, if the name is “SAM SMITH,” press the number 7 four times to get the letter “S.” Press the number 2 once to get the letter “A.” Repeat this procedure until you have completed the name you wish to display. Pressing the bottom left programmable key will change the  letter from upper case to lower case. Display names can be a maximum of 11 characters in length. When the letter you want appears on the same dial pad key as the previous letter, press the volume UP or DOWN keys to move the cursor right or left.

To change displayed name:

  1. Press the TRANSFER key followed by 104
  2. Enter the name using the procedure described above
  3. Press the TRANSFER key to save and exit
